Easter-time event (+ concept)
Hi all, I'm new/hardly ever here but I wanted to get my suggestion out there
Since last year I've been thinking that it'd be nice to have an in-game festival at Easter time. One of the great things about GW festivals (apart from sheer ingenuity!) is that they don't just latch on to established 'Western' events, but integrate them into the world - simulatneously making it more interesting for players and avoiding messy PC backlashes from using something like Christmas, for example, which is religious in nature.
So, the concept: At Easter time, hold a festival to Melandru - celebrating Spring, the earth, new life and such things. She needs her own festival anyway! This could include egg hunts (maybe in a snowball fight-style PvP?) and other fun springtime activities. I leave the details up to you.
Of course, that leaves Balthazar, and Lyssa. Balthazar can have tournaments as his festival. Any ideas about Lyssa?

Nice idea, but this isn't correct according to the seasons in Guild Wars.
From the manual:
Zephyr (spring) - Dwayna and Lyssa
Phoenix (summer) - Balthazar
Scion (autumn) - Melandru
Colussus (winter) - Grenth
Good idea though, but this would get Lyssa to celebrate spring, seeing how Dwayna and Grenth take it on at winter/coming of spring. Melandru could have a sorta autumn festival.
For thinking of things to include with it... I dunno.
BTW, Easter is religious too. The easterbunny is santaclause in spring.

Hmmm...
Religious - yeah, I know, what I meant (but evidently didn't actually write) was that Guild Wars makes it non-religious by making it in-game religion, if that makes sense. Anyway, unless there's a new religion I'm not aware of, the Easter Bunny and Santa aren't religious
Very good point with the calander, I hadn't even thought of that; and you're right, that would leave Lyssa in charge of spring proper. But egg hunts just don't seem like her thing...
And an autumn festival has less to base it on (the existing ones are big/well-known and full of traditions) - not to mention it'd pretty much coincide with Halloween and Mad King Thorn.
Hmmm, that makes it more difficult. Maybe Melandru should have an end-of-Summer sort of thing? But there's still no big holiday to base it on, which is part of the fun of GW events. Oh well, more comments welcome.

I see absolutely no reason why we cant have an easter event. We have mock-ups of hallowean and christmas, so I dont see why we cant have a mock-up of easter.
The usual arguement against new events is that their not holidays which Americans know about or take part in. Since the company who made this are primarily American. But we all know America has Easter so that arguement doesnt work.
The only real issue is it detracting from other, more important developments.

i think the easter idea is a great one i even liek the idea of lyssa giving out chocolate to homeless little children in tyria, and going on egghunts around elona and tyria (or even in the U.W like christmas) and we could have oversized men in bunny costumes for hench... and maybe an egg hat or a bunnie hat........... i really liked the idea. hey if we celebrate christmas and halloween then why shouldn't we celebrate easter too?
